چکیده

Fourier transform is applied to detect the direction of stripe noise before de-noising, which is advantageous for selecting the corresponding detail coefficients for threshold quantization after stationary wavelet transform. Depending on the direction of stripe noise, the corresponding detail coefficients contain stripe noise need to be removed, while retaining the approximate coefficients and other detail coefficients. The algorithm can remove stripe noise effectively and preserve original image details as much as possible. In addition, stationary wavelet transform is used for the first time in stripe noise removal from remote sensing images. Compared with the traditional de-noising algorithms based on discrete wavelet transform, stationary wavelet transform can better maintain the details of original image because it is redundant and shift-invariant. As shown in the experiments, the new algorithm reported herein performs better than discrete wavelet transform, mean filter and gauss filter, leading to good visual effects. Assessment of the Wavelet Transform for Noise Reduction in Simulated PET Images

Introduction: An efficient method of tomographic imaging in nuclear medicine is positron emission tomography (PET). Compared to SPECT, PET has the advantages of higher levels of sensitivity, spatial resolution and more accurate quantification. However, high noise levels in the image limit its diagnostic utility. Noise removal in nuclear medicine is traditionally based on Fourier decomposition o...

Stripe noise removal of remote sensing images by total variation regularization and group sparsity constraint

Remote sensing images have been used in many fields, such as urban planning, military, and environment monitoring, but corruption by stripe noise limits its subsequent applications. Most existing stripe noise removal (destriping) methods aim to directly estimate the clear images from the stripe images without considering the intrinsic properties of stripe noise, which causes the image structure...

Wavelet-based feature extraction from oceanographic images

Features in satellite images of the oceans often have weak edges. These images also have a significant amount of noise, which is either due to the clouds or atmospheric humidity. The presence of noise compounds the problems associated with the detection of features, as the use of any traditional noise removal technique will also result in the removal of weak edges. Recently, there have been rap...

Denoising of multispectral images using wavelet thresholding

In this paper a denoising technique for multispectral images exploiting interband correlations is proposed. A redundant wavelet transform is applied and denoising is applied by thresholding wavelet coefficients. A scale adaptive threshold value is obtained by exploiting the interband correlation of the signal. First, the coefficients from different bands are multiplied. For these products, the ...
